Global Leisure Partners LLC Advises on Acquisition of Cable and Wireless Bermuda Holdings
LONDON (March 2011): Global Leisure Partners LLC Advises on Acquisition of Cable and Wireless Bermuda Holdings.
Global Leisure Partners LLC ("GLP") is pleased to announce that it acted as financial advisor to the Bragg Group in its acquisition of Cable & Wireless Communications' ("CWC") operations in Bermuda, Cable & Wireless Bermuda Holdings, for US$72 million.
The Bragg Group owns Bragg Communications, the largest privately held communications and video services company in Canada, operating in 9 of 10 Canadian provinces under the EastLink brand. The Company was the first Canadian cable company to offer a "triple play" (telecom, internet and video services) to customers, and is the leader in developing competitive telecommunications services to both residential and business customers in the communities it serves in Canada. Bragg Communications has been recognized as one of Canada's "50 Best Managed Companies" for each of the past five years, and the Bragg Group was named Canada's "Family Enterprise of the Year for 2009."
Expanding beyond its growth in Canada, the purchase gives the Bragg Group its first presence in the communications industry outside Canada. The step is a logical one for the Bragg Group as there are natural synergies between Nova Scotia and Bermuda, primarily the substantial financial services industry that has developed between the province and Bermuda in recent years.
Ann Petley-Jones, the new Chief Executive for Bragg's newly acquired Bermuda Operations said:
"We are excited to invest in Bermuda's economic growth and communications excellence. We are impressed by the quality of the employees and the company's operations and look forward to further modernizing and expanding a full range of communications for Bermudian consumers and businesses."
Mark Harms, Chairman & CEO of GLP, commented:
"We are delighted to have advised on this transaction with Bragg Group, a benchmark deal that will be beneficial to buyer and seller as well as the people of Bermuda. This transaction exemplifies GLP's ability to provide value added advice to strong, dynamic and forward-thinking management teams in order to consummate strategic transactions."
