Hans-Georg Burghardt
Hans-Georg (Hannes) Burghardt joined GLP in January 2013 as an Operating Partner.
Prior to joining GLP, Hannes spent 18 years with Deutsche Bank where he was Head of EMEA Gaming and Leisure & Travel.
Over that period, Hannes has been involved in many of the region's key gaming transactions such as the merger of Gold Reef and Tsogo Sun, the privatisation and secondary equity offering for Opap, the acquisition of Gioco Digitale by Bwin, the acquisition of Praesepe by Gauselmann, buy-outs of William Hill, SNAI, Ritz Bingo Clubs and Regency Entertainment, the IPO of German online gaming company Tipp24, as well as equity and debt financings for Intralot, Lottomatica, Cirsa and Holland Casino.
He was also involved in a number of Europe's key leisure travel deals, including the £3.5bn merger of First Choice and TUI Tourism, numerous equity and debt financings for both TUI AG and TUI Travel plc, the sale of Landal GreenParks to Wyndham for Charterhouse, the sale of Havas Voyages Grand Public to Thomas Cook for Amex and the sale of online travel group Go Voyages for Accor.
Hannes advised Accor on acquiring stakes in Polish hotel chain Orbis and German hotel chain Dorint, Deutsche Bank on the disposal of Interhotel and Starwood Hotels & Resorts on the disposal of various luxury hotels, including the Danieli in Venice.
Hannes holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Oxford.
Simon Dunn
Simon Dunn joined GLP as an Operating Partner in September 2015.
Simon has over 25 years of investment banking experience involving both corporate finance and sell-side equity research in the retail, internet and leisure sectors at Dresdner Kleinwort, RBS, Arma Partners, Kleinwort Benson, UBS and Charterhouse.
Over that period he has been involved in many leading transactions in the retail sector such as the acquisition of 25% of Sainsbury by the QIA, the acquisition of ASDA by Walmart and the sale of Hugo Boss to Permira, amongst others. He has considerable expertise in e-commerce as demonstrated by his role in the sale of blackcircles.com to Michelin and the acquisition of bol.com by Royal Ahold. In the travel and leisure sector he has worked on transactions involving Dufry, Thomas Cook, Alpha Airports, Nuance and World Duty Free.
He was a rated sell-side equity research analyst at UBS, Kleinwort Benson and Charterhouse for 15 years.
Simon holds an MA in Finance & Investment from Exeter University and a BSc in Geology from Edinburgh University
Rick DeNey
Rick DeNey is currently Managing Director of Headwaters SC and an Operating Partner of Global Leisure Partners. He is a corporate strategist, M&A professional and corporate director with substantial experience in consumer products, information technology, and technology enabled services. His previous roles included strategy consultant for global enterprises with McKinsey and Company, senior executive with The First Boston Corporation’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Development at Borden Inc., and Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development at Electronic Data Systems.
Rick also founded Needham & Company's M&A Group and built it into a leader in the technology sector, advising numerous global technology companies and private equity firms. He is an experienced corporate director and has served as Vice Chairman of the Board at Unigraphics Solutions and as a Director of Borden Foods Corp., Wise Foods, Inc., Borden Chemicals and Plastics, Borden Dairy Company and Elmer's Products Inc.
